DESTINATION

MONTENEGRO

Lord Byron once wrote:
"At the moment of the creation of the planet, the most beautiful fusion of land and sea happened on the Montenegrin coast..."

240 SUNNY DAYS

Although small in terms of territory, Montenegro abounds in natural beauty, historical monuments and sunny weather almost all year round. It is a country full of contrasts. At a distance of only 100 kilometers, there are three different natural environments: the coast, the karst region and the region of high mountains. Tourists have the opportunity to swim in the sea, go rafting on rivers, hike or ski on the mountain - all in one day.

Although it belongs to the group of Adriatic and Mediterranean countries, Montenegro is also a mountainous country where areas above 1,000 meters above sea level occupy as much as 60.5% of the territory. Its territory represents the richness of the relief of a place unrecorded in the world. The Montenegrin mountain range stretching from Maglić, Volujko and Bioč in the west to Prokletije in the east, intersected by the magnificent canyons of Piva, Komarnica, Sušica, Tara and Morača, adorned with over 35 picturesque lakes, represents one of the most attractive and ecologically preserved mountain regions of the Balkans and Europe.

BEAUTIFUL BEACHES

Three hundred kilometers of the Adriatic coast is the jewel of the Montenegrin array of natural beauties. The beaches are pebble, sandy or rocky, only a few meters, hundreds of meters or kilometers long. Secluded - far from populated areas or right in front of the central city waterfront or your hotel. Some, with restless waves, look towards the open sea and some are sheltered in the calm waters of the colorful bay. Some, again, are tame and easily accessible, others are wild, isolated and inaccessible, they can generally be reached only by boat. Some are desolate, romantic and lonely. Others, again, are alive, filled with a series of designed events and activities.

UNTOUCHED NATURE

Recognizing the importance and size of this wealth, the Montenegrin parliament declared Montenegro an ecological state in 1988. Thus, the state became the protector of the untouched natural realm. At the UNCED conference (Brazil 1992), Montenegro was declared the first ecological country in the world. Protected natural and cultural resources cover 10% of the total territory. Five national parks, protected forest systems, authentic natural complexes, unpolluted water, clean air, over 50 protected plant and 320 animal species form an extraordinary basis for the further development of tourism.

Close to a quarter of the total European flora can be found in this area. Montenegro is also a country of natural rarities, it contains one of the two rainforests in Europe (Biogradska gora), the southernmost and most beautiful bay of glacial origin in the world (Bokokotorska Bay), the deepest and longest river canyon in the world after the Colorado (Tara River Canyon), the largest and most characteristic lake in this part of Europe (Skadar Lake) and the cleanest river in Europe (Tara River). Durmitor National Park and the city of Kotor are on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.

ČANJ

Čanj is a small tourist town located between Bar and Budva. This little isolated place is the right choice for families with small children, but also for everyone else who wants a peaceful and pleasant vacation. The place is far from major roads and is characterized by a warm sea, a beautiful sandy beach, parks and landscaping. Canj is about 12 kilometers from Bar.

The place is also known for its complex of hotels and cottages. Canj stretches along a 1,200-meter-long isolated coast covered with pebbles. This part of the coast is known as the Pearl Beach.

Čanj is a place that, in addition to lying on a beautiful beach, can offer many other activities. The city has several sports fields and many restaurants, bars and cafes. Of course, if you get bored and want to change and visit a nearby city, you can take a local bus that departs several times a day.

The Pearl beach or the main beach in Čanj is one of the most beautiful on the Montenegrin coast. A mountain ridge cuts this beach and divides it into two smaller ones. The beach is covered with a thick layer of fine sand on the shore and pebbles in the water.

The total length of this beach is 1,800 meters, and the beach has a capacity of 9,000 bathers. In the back of the beach there are hotels, restaurants and cafes, all surrounded by pines, cypresses and Mediterranean plants. Relatively close to Čanj is Petrovac with a very nice beach. The city beach is the largest in Petrovac. This sandy beach is about 600 meters long, with reddish sand and is one of the most visited beaches in this part of the Budva Riviera. There are numerous beach bars and hotels nearby.

Near the Pearl Beach is the popular Kraljičina beach, which can be reached by riding one of the boats that operate in this part of the Riviera. Galebova beach is a more isolated beach, for lovers of adventure and nature. On this beach, the waves are sometimes very high, which surfers will like.
